red white blue craftiness

I love the fourth, and I love decorating for it.  Here are the new things I did this year. A wood pallet door mat. Snap Crackle Pop fireworks. Sparkly patriotic gel nails get me all excited. I planted 3 festive pots that are on my front porch. I half way finished four red white and blue pleated fans.  And I made a RW&B ribbon wrapped wreath for my front door.

old becomes new

My mother-in-law gave us an old bench she no longer uses. I recovered it in a fun print I found at JoAnn's grand opening this weekend. I love it, and it's just what I needed to begin my home decor journey!

the transformation

Dora gets a face lift,
and comes out looking pretty Super.

All due to Matthias' handiwork, some Goo Gone, a can of paint, and stickers.

Oh, and a few parts we picked up from a kind neighbor.

Pretty spiffy, huh?

Can't wait to see Beckham's eyes on Christmas morning!

catch up part 2

Continuing from my week with three little boys, and no husband...

Fridays always feel like the beginning of a party to me... and I usually try to do something fun for Friday... so I copied Janet's idea and made transformers for the boys out of boxes this day! Oh my goodness, they thought I was the coolest person in the world! Paint ended up on my floor, walls and everyone's clothes when the boys were painting, so I took over after a while and let them color their license plates and help me glue on their wheels. They had a blast. The looks on their faces reminded me of little kids on Christmas morning. It made me so happy to see them so excited! Every time I painted a new detail on their cars, they got giddy and laughed. They had to wait a couple of hrs for the paint to dry and the whole time kept asking if they could drive their transformers... (Little Eagan calls me Andra, and so Ty caught on to it too and I was Andra the whole week.) They were hilarious playing with their transformers... when they were sitting down inside the transformer they were in the car mode and when they were standing up they were the transformer, and in between standing up and sitting down or visa versa, they made the "ker kuh koo kuh kih" noise to transform. Little boys are so cute. Thanks Janet, it was so fun! Here are a few pics, but I couldn't get them taken before Eagan left. Ty had Bumblebee, Eagan had Optimus Prime, and Beckham had Jazz.

Eagan's dad, Fritz, came to pick him up at 2am Sunday morning. Tyty woke up as he was leaving and got really sad and said, "I don't want Eagan to go, I will miss him." I don't know why, but it made me cry, you would think that I would be doing a victory dance now that my week of babysitting was over. It just made me sad because they were joined at the hip the whole week and had so much fun. It's interesting how when your kids feel happy or sad that you feel those emotions too. They aren't going to see each other for a whole month because we are both traveling. I am definitely not complaining that I am down to my own two kids though!

Another night while Matthias had to study Ty and I cut out snowflakes while we watched Rudolph. Beckham's contribution was tearing them up after they were done. We did manage to hang some up before Beckham tore them up though.
