hope

Elder Uchtdorf gave a talk today during General Conference that I'll always remember. I can't stop thinking about the quote he read:

“In the midst of winter, I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer.”

The job search is on, and for me, has been very overwhelming, and scary really. It seems like doors keep slamming in our faces and discouragement and fear have all but settled on my front doorstep. (Matthias not so much, because if you know him, you'll know he is an optimist.) Anyways, this talk helped me remember there is hope and that my life is so much better focusing the good and the positive, and that it will eventually ALL work out.

Albert Camus. Love that quote. And I know what you mean about the job search :)

His talk was by absolute favorite. It really touched home with me (and not because of my name :D )

We are in the same boat as well. There's nothing like a rejection letter (or several) to humble a person rather quickly.

Good Luck.

I'm thinking I almost shoudln't comment, but what the heck, I feel like a veteran in this area. :) We're into our third year of a very long winter, and I think I've finally found that invincible quality hiding within myself--but it has taken awhile and it does seem to come and go! Do try to be thankful that at least you've had the door open long enough for it to slam. Seriously, it's depressing when you can't even get an interview. I just thank my lucky stars every day that I have a good job. I've done a lot of thinking about "hope" and even wrote a somewhat telling post about it and my feelings on the matter a bit ago. Matthias is right to be optimistic. I've learned that it's so not worth getting depressed about. Make the most of your time now, and enjoy the moments you have together even if it is poor and living in low-income housing! There is so much to be grateful for right here and now. From what I can tell, you guys are doing a pretty great job of enjoying the moment.

Love, love, love Albert Camus!

HOPE? WAIT! I KNOW I CAN DO IT? I KNOW I HAVE HEARD OF IT BUT I DON'T KNOW IF I KNOW THE MEANING! :) J/K
Matthias is right about being optimistic even though I don't think he knows any other way to be! I am grateful for Brad's opportunity but trust me when I say that it doesn't solve everything! Yeah, we don't have that stress (anymore) but there are quite enough things slapping us in the face or as you would say settled on my front doorstep. But you do have something amazing going for you....are you going to make me say it?.....obedience Yeah that's right the "little thing" called the gospel and I can honestly say that will take you farther than anything.
WAIT I THINK I DO KNOW WHAT HOPE MEANS! I'VE GOT IT NOW I NEED TO USE IT I GUESS!

I remember a quote by Martha Washington that went something like: "The greater part of our happiness depends on our dispositions and not on our circumstances." I know in my heart that Matthias will get the job that is right for your little family and that all WILL work out. Keep that positive attitude. Luvs to all !
