found... for the time being

No, Matthias has not' "done me in." My fingers are not broken, I have not run away from home nor has Matthias locked me in a closet. One reason for being MIA is due to my trip to VA to visit my friend, Linnea. We had so much fun that I didn't have time to take pictures. When I finally got my camera out at "Jumping Joey's," I saw a dad taking pictures of his toddler riding a quarter slot Merry-go-Round (just like the ones found at the mall) . . . and started thinking. . . who wants a picture of their kid on a quarter ride?? So I quickly took a fast one of Ty and Dixon - and put my camera away. Unfortunately it is not a very good picture, but after seeing the Merry-go-Round photo shoot, I developed a bad taste in my mouth for taking millions of photos of insignificant events - There has to be a line drawn it seems- at least for me - as to when I take pictures, what I want to document. After all, I only have limited time and computer space, and one picture of our vacation is good enough for me to conjure up all the fun memories we had there. So here is the LAME photo of our NOT lame trip. It was fabulous in every way. In fact, it does not surprise me that I didn't get a picture of their cute little faces. As best friends, they were off in magical and distant lands the entire time together. They wanted nothing to do with moms. It was a nice break for me.

Amazing photograph, right? Anyways, the drive out there and back couldn't have gone better. It was my first long drive without Matthias behind the wheel - I drove 11.5 hours solo (two ways) with two well behaved kids in the back seat. I began both my road trips around 4am and and only stopped 3 short times each way. I felt so adventurous driving by myself cross country. A few things I learned during the road trip: kids don't need portable DVD players (my kids did without movies and didn't even care), while kids are napping in the back it is impossible to pee in a cup and drive at the same time (coke is dangerous), the Garmin doesn't know everything, and now I know why Matthias hardly eats when he drives and I am always the one pigging out on snacks (sitting in the passenger seat is sooooo boring.)

Ty and Dixon are only 2 weeks apart in age and so for their birthday Linnea got a hotel room at the Great Wolf Lodge which has an indoor water park. For the boys, it was better than Christmas. One of the best moments in VA for me was staying up late talking the night away with Linnea. She is a gem. It was such a fun trip - one that I will always remember. Linnea, if you ever read this, I am so glad you had us out. Thank you for everything. I hope we can do it again! I love you!

YEAH ! You have been found ! ! ! I am so glad that you got to visit Linnea in Virginia and that you had a wonderful time. I think you are so awesome for driving on your own, and your boys are getting to be really good travelers. Way to go mom and Ty and B-Becks.
