indiana snowstorm to virginia blossoms

We drove through the snowstorm that hit the midwest - didn't check to see really how the drive would be before we left, but found out on the way that it was N-A-S-T-Y! It snowed and was iced over all the way to Virginia. Once we hit Virginia it was smooth sailin', but it took an extra 4 hrs on top of the 11 that it normally takes to drive here. We were so scared, and I'm not exaggerating. I prayed silently all the way to Virginia that we would make it. Matthias told me he was as well. I just can't believe we made it here alive. Cars were abandoned all along the 37 and 64 all the way to Virginia. Oh man, I will never forget the gratitude and feeling of being watched over when we finally arrived. I couldn't stop thanking the Lord in my prayers when I hit my knees that night.

Yesterday, Sunday, was a relaxing day - we went on a walk to the pond on the plantation - fed the geese, ducks, and swan. The boys loved it! We went church - had a long nap, and FHE.

Today, Monday, we went to Historic Jamestown to see the sights. We watched a glass blower make a wine bottle - (our favorite!), visited a museum and various monuments, and rode a ferry across the James. I have formed a bad habit: during Beckham's most frustrating moments - of (in my head) calling him something I would never let anyone know I was thinking nor ever say out loud. No, I am not proud of it, but I am quite sure almost every parent thinks it or something close to it at some point in their parenting life. Unfortunately that is all that he was referred to as (in my mind) today. He was naughty in every way.

After dinner Matthias took Ty to the Williamsburg Ghost Tour. Ty was sosososososo giddy for it. If any of you know Ty very well, you know his obsession with ghosts and anything scary really. I can't believe that at 10:00pm when he got home, he was just as awake and excited about it as he was earlier in the day. He tried to retell some ghost stories to me, with chocolate all over his adorable face. During the tour, they walked around Colonial Williamsburg listening to a storyteller tell tales of ghosts in certain old houses... spooky! Ty keeps saying, "I really love this vacation! It's really special."

Are the dogwood blossoms out in Virginia? They were my favorite when we were in North Carolina. This will be a great vacation to remember ! ! !

Beautiful pics... we had awful scary driving on our trip too. And I'm with you with the silent name calling!!! As long as you keep hitting your knees at night, all will be well.
