pinewood derby

I swear this is the last Jimmer post! We've had a lot of fun with basketball season this year, following Jimmer and the Cougs. Lucky us, Jimmer decided to make an appearance at the pinewood derby!  Ty had a bday party to go to, so it was just Bex and his dad at the Derby. Matthias ran to the store to get a car kit (essentially a block of wood with wheels and weights - you have to carve it to the style you want and put wheel and weights on) and got home an hour before the derby began. I have never seen a man saw, sand, and drill anything so fast. It was amazing - it was as if a bomb went off in my kitchen... saw dust, sand paper, and tools everywhere. Matthias put me to work on sanding the wheels down to make the car speedy fast. Bex watched from a distance as we madly put it together, and decided to name his car "the Jimmer." Despite being mocked for it's name  at the Derby, "the Jimmer" came in first every time, just like the real Jimmer on the basketball court. Bex was ecstatic, he ran with "the Jimmer" to the finish line every time. "The Jimmer" won the entire Derby, can you believe it? It was amazing.
