this is the place

We are in Utah!! Every day in the morning Ty says: "I'm so happy to be in Utah!" These first couple of days have been spent seeing and visiting with parents and siblings. The only sib I haven't seen yet is my brother Eric. It was so great to see both our parents for the first time. I couldn't help but cry a little when I saw them. It just feels so good to be home and with family! It is so beautiful outside right now! It snowed this evening and the storm is sticking around until after Christmas. Lots of snow! My wish for a white Christmas has come true!!!

Tonight we went with the Sayer family up to This is the Place Heritage Park for the Candelight Christmas festivity. It was so magical because it started snowing on our drive up. We had to walk through the village from house to house (old pioneer homes that are still only lit by oil lamps!) where they had different activities in each house... all while it snowed through the night. The whole time I kept kicking myself for not bringing my camera! The sun was way past set, but it was so light outside because of the snow covered ground and low white snowy clouds. These are the activities we did: listened to the legend of the Christmas spider, made ornaments, had hot cocoa and hot dogs, saw a puppet show, danced the Virginia reel with live fiddlers (our favorite), and visited with "Father Christmas." I didn't think the kids would be able to handle dancing a formal dance, but they proved me wrong and just giggled the whole time. Overall, this night brought me such a sweet happiness that I haven't felt in a while being away from family. I really felt connected to my family roots tonight and it made me grateful for the family relationships I have. It reminded me of my pioneer heritage and made me so proud to be part of my family and I thoroughly enjoyed being with them and felt so grateful for the simple things that bring me the most happiness: my family.

Here is a picture that I made LaMar take of Matthias and I tonight... so you all know I really exist!

Andrea, you look so good! I LOVE the long dark hair. Dang girl. I really really really really really hope you are planning on coming to the Jones Christmas on Sunday. We arrive tomorrow afternoon... if the weather allows our drive across I-80.

Anj, it's Lenzi, it's been so long! I found you through Keri's blog. When I opened your page I had an immediate flashback of English classes on Friday's studying our vocab words right before the test & teaching the warm-up in our work-out class. :) Now you are a proud Mom to two beautiful boys! I'll keep checking in on you to see how you are doing. We're at benandlenzi.blogspot.com. ***And I'm jealous of your White Christmas - have an extra roll in the UT snow for me while you're up there!
